It's like when you're in a relationship and you know that a fight, big or small, is not going to be the end of it - you work on it, talk it over, forgive, forget and move on. So, naturally, when I gave my boss a summarized letter of my responsibilities and loyalty to the company - I was the Office Manager of a small real estate firm - I figured it would be just like anything else: I would ask for a well-deserved raise, my boss would consider it and get back to me with an offer.
