Their messages are incredibly defensive, if you pay attention to the commands and demands they try to get away with. For instance, one of the commonest admonitions you'll hear is "Our menu has changed." This is like demanding the person "Listen-up now!" or "Listen to the whole thing!" We'd never sound that insistent to a client in real time, but we program our electronic proxies to do it for us. By delegating rudeness to machines, do we diminish it?
