My Way or the Harvard Way: The Innovator's Solution |
People who are faced with a situation where their actions can make their existence in a company (or team, etc.) obsolete, may resort to acts that sabotage the best interests of the company in order to protect their position. This is why it may be that companies that could bring a truly "distruptive" innovative product, often don't do so. Instead, they bring "minor upgrades" to market which compete with everyone else's minor upgrades. This will not bring true innovation into the company. In order to succeed above all else, companies must develop the systems (and support of employees) to foster truly new and innovative ideas that are disruptive to the market, and lead to major changes in how the business is conducted.
