The field of outdoor training and development (OTD) has continued to evolve and grow over the past 31 years. Although today it accounts for approximately $111 million yearly in the corporate training industry (Weaver 1999), it is not without it critics. Proponents of OTD say, "such activities, as part of a well-thought-out training program, can lead to better teamwork and leadership skills" (Wagner and Roland, 1992).
